Rosie’s Walk by Pat Hutchins

Rosie the hen takes a leisurely stroll around the farm, completely oblivious of the wily fox in pursuit of her at every turn. A series of happy accidents prevent the fox from catching Rosie so that she returns home safe and sound. This book uses its illustrations to maximum effect, with the images effectively telling the story while the limited verse structures the book brilliantly. The limited words are echoed by the restricted retro colour pallet which lends it its 1960s look and feel.
