Punctuation is used in a subtle way to alter our reading of the four words of orange, pear, apple and bear, and the lovely simple illustrations reinforce the delicate nuances too. This is an ideal first read when taken at its most basic level: a book that repeats the same four words and the same illustrations. Stunningly simple, cleverly composed.
