Who’s behind Lollipop Library?

Hello. Thanks for stopping by. Lollipop Library is run by a cheerful chartered librarian who, among other things, likes to read – obviously! Having been a librarian for many years, she is passionate about children’s literacy, and the purpose of her blog is to share with you the magical and immersive world of picture books.  

What is Lollipop Library’s mission?

Lollipop Library is not here to bang the drum about the benefits of reading. After all, most of us know that reading is a good thing. But knowing that doesn’t always make it easy to pick the right picture books to suit your child. 

There are thousands of picture books for young readers and the choice can be overwhelming, (which you’ll know if you’ve ever trawled through endless books online, or stood staring bemused in the children’s sections of a bookshop or library). Bookshops promote the bestsellers, but what about all those forgotten picture books that have been lost in the mists of time?

That’s where Lollipop Library comes in. Its aim is to help parents and carers of toddlers, pre-schoolers and early primary aged children discover (and re-discover) some of the best picture books available today (at least in Lollipop Library’s opinion!). The site makes it easy to find an ideal book for your child, consisting of 26 themed book categories from A-Z. Within each category is a list of recommended picture books to pick from.

If you want to read to your child but lack the time, knowledge or confidence to choose the right books to suit their interests, then you’ve come to the right place.
