Sharing a Shell by Julia Donaldson and Lydia Monks

A delightful modern take on the age-old lesson of sharing. A vulnerable shell-less crab seeks refuge from a greedy gull in an abandoned shell only to soon find he has company from other rock-pool dwellers. Will the crab and his new housemates learn to share? It’s refreshing to find some lesser known sea creatures as central characters that provide a good education for inquisitive readers. The Donaldson/Monks pairing brings us lyrical language and bold colourful illustrations characteristic of these two picture book stalwarts.
