This moralistic story of being happy with what you have is a life lesson for children and adults alike. At the heart of the tale is Denver – the wealthiest resident in Berton. Denver uses his ample wealth for good, helping the villages in a variety of different ways. The residents return such kindness with love and appreciation. That is until the day a stranger comes to town and makes them question the fairness of Denver having all the money while the rest of the locals have relatively little. This sit-up-and-make-you-think book delivers a message suited to slightly older children whilst younger ones can enjoy the colourful and bold illustrations of McKee’s distinctive style.
