Sylvia and Bird by Catherine Rayner

30/10/2019Lollipop Library

Everybody wants to belong but Sylvia is the only dragon in the world and is lonely. That is until she meets bird and the twosome strike up an unexpected friendship. This is a tale which explores the complex emotions of fitting in, belonging, and the power of friendship, which it manages to do very well. There are a range of illustrative techniques at play here too, with the use of watercolour-style drawings lending a dreamy, whimsical quality to the dragon’s situation.
